Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who is eligible to enter the Live Green Toronto Awards?
    • Individuals, groups, businesses and organizations that reside and/or operate in the city of Toronto are eligible to enter the Awards with the following exceptions: winners of the 2013 Live Green Toronto Awards, City of Toronto employees, elected officials and Live Green Toronto Awards judges and sponsors.
    • Youth under the age of 18 must obtain parental/guardian consent in order to submit an entry and/or appear in a video submission.
    • Finalists in the 2013 Live Green Toronto Awards are eligible to enter.
  2. What is the deadline to enter and vote?

    Entries will be accepted until 5:00 pm on May 5, 2014. Votes will be accepted until 12:00 pm on May 12, 2014.

  3. How do I enter?

    Complete the online entry form and submit a video of up to 90 seconds in length that tells us what makes you one of Toronto's greenest. It's easy to enter!

    • Click on the Enter button in the navigation bar or on the Details page.
    • Before entering, you must register. If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to register by creating an account or logging in with Facebook.
    • Complete the entry form and answer the question "What makes you one of Toronto's greenest?" in 500 words or less.
    • Select one award category (multiple entries/categories will not be accepted)
    • Upload your video.
    • Share your entry and get the voting started!
  4. May I enter in more than one award category?

    No, multiple entries will not be accepted.

  5. How do I vote?
    • Select your favourite video(s)
    • Click the Vote button
    • You must register before you can vote. If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to register by creating an account or logging in with Facebook.
    • Vote for your favourites a maximum of once per day.
    • Votes will be audited. Fraudulent voting activities, including but not limited to, using multiple accounts to vote for a video more than once per day will not be tolerated. Fraudulent votes will not count towards an entry’s final score.
  6. How will the winners be determined?

    The winner in each award category will be determined by a combination of public votes and judges' scores. Public votes will account for 49% of an entrant’s score and the judges' scores will account for 51% of the total score.

  7. What are the judging criteria?

    The judges will assess your entry (video and written submission) based on the following criteria:

    • Environmental impact in the city of Toronto
    • Innovation and creativity of your work
  8. May I enter if I won a 2013 Live Green Toronto Award?

    No, winners of the 2013 Green Toronto Awards are not eligible to enter. Finalists are welcome to enter.

  9. Can my video be longer than 90 seconds?

    Video entries should be no longer than 90 seconds in length. Videos that are 95 seconds in length or less will be accepted, but five points out of 100 will be deducted off the entrant's final score for each second the video exceeds the 90 second limit. Videos longer than 95 seconds will not be accepted.

  10. What may cause an entry to be denied?

    Entries may be denied if they:

    • are incomplete;
    • do not meet eligibility requirements;
    • do not conform to the rules and regulations;
    • exceed the maximum limits: for videos, (95 seconds in length, for the written component 500 words);
    • contain inappropriate content
